How the Ski Program Works:
Darby's Health Enhancement students will participate in ski/board trips to Lost Trail Ski area. The program consists of two days for each grade level to spend on the slopes. On the mountain, all students will participate in a 1 hour ski lesson, 1.5 hour board lesson with a certified instructor. In addition to the lesson, students receive an all-day lift ticket and all day use of equipment.
5&6th grade January 23rd and January 30th
7&8th grade January 17th and February 7th
9-12th grade January 17th, February 7th, and February 13th
Why this Program:
Skiing and boarding are lifetime sports. Long after days of school sports are behind, the individual can still ski and board. It is a productive pastime, requiring concentration and attention to detail that carries over into other life skills. Each participant has the benefit of being individually challenged within his/her own capabilities for performing the sport. The Lost Trail Physical Education Program is not considered a day off from school, but rather a day spent in the mountain classroom exposing students to the lifelong sport of skiing and boarding.
