Congratulations to the Students of the Week:  Clay Rouse and Thade Myers
5th-7th Grade Students of the Month:  Gabe Smith and Isabel Morton
One of the great activities our students participate in every year continues this week.  The 5th and 6th grade classes will be going to Lost Trail Powder Mountain for skiing and snowboarding on the 30th (see the schedule below for the upcoming dates).  Each student is required to take a lesson and spend the day with a group of same ability skiers.
On February 4th we will host an “I Love to Read Month” kickoff family night.  From 5:15-6:00 there will be a free family dinner in the cafeteria.  Then there will be mini-sessions with authors Dominic Farrenkopf, Jennifer Crawford and Kathy Dufresne, and librarians Wendy Campbell and Janie Vogt.  We hope to see you there.
Some of the great events for I Love to Read Month will be:
·         Reading is the Ticket – Any student in grades K-8 can earn a one-day ticket to Silverwood Theme Park by recreationally reading for 10 hours (600 minutes)
·         The Masonic Lodge from Hamilton and Darby Schools Excellence Fund will sponsor prizes for each grade.  K-3 students will have a chance to win a bike, and 3rd-7th students will enter for a Kindle.
·         The Reading Reward Field Trip will also take place early in March.  If your child is not interested in the above drawings they can enter tickets to go on the field trip.
·         Students earn one ticket for every 15 minutes of reading.
