It is great to be back working with the wonderful students at Darby Schools. I hope everyone had an enjoyable break.

Our winter has been quite mild to this point, but we always want to be prepared for weather events. Please send your children to school with appropriate clothes for the conditions. In the event we will need to close school for the day, or start late you can find that information on the local television and radio stations.

It has been brought to my attention that rumors concerning the funding and immediate continuation of X-Treme Team are floating around and causing concern. Let me just say right out that these rumors are simply not true. X-Treme Team is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant that is renewed on an annual basis from July 1st through June 30th. That means this year’s grant is fully funded until June 30th. It is in June of each year that we are notified by the federal government that the renewal application has been approved and funded. This grant is completely separate from the school’s general budget, and as such, if cuts are made to the school’s budget, these have no affect on the funding of X-Treme Team. Our current clubs are: science experiments; ice skating; team poster making; card making; story writing and illustrating; puzzles and brain teasers.

The 3rd & 4th grade students will be skiing the next two Thursdays. Please ensure they are dressed and ready for the conditions on the mountain.
